Position: Assistant Director & Headteacher (Early Childhood Education)
Location: Absecon & Galloway, NJ
Mrs. Barnes Playhouse Daycare is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and professional leader to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, developing curriculum, handling budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and state licensing laws.
The role involves creating a safe and nurturing environment, maintaining strong communication with parents, and ensuring high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of children and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff. Provide guidance on curriculum delivery and classroom management.
- Program Development: Design and implement age-appropriate programs that promote holistic child development. Maintain effective educational policies and procedures.
- Operational Management: Oversee center budgets, daily activities, and ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Parent & Community Relations: Serve as the main contact for parents, manage inquiries, and build positive relationships with families and local organizations.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle scheduling, record-keeping, reporting, and inventory management.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience: 5–10 years of experience in a childcare setting, preferably in New Jersey, with supervisory or management experience.
- Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of early childhood development principles and relevant state and local regulations.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification required.
